Show off your love for native bivalves with LPLA’s Mussel Muscle Tank!

Freshwater mussels are both an indicator and creator of good water quality. They need clean water to survive, but they also actively filter water by means of acquiring food. Unfortunately, more than half of Minnesota’s 51 native freshwater mussels are listed as endangered, threatened, or of special concern. Historically, Lake Pepin and the Upper Mississippi River were teeming with freshwater mussels. 

All proceeds from the Mussel Muscle Tank directly support LPLA’s work to help protect Lake Pepin.
