(Press Release) Lake Pepin Benefit Concert: Supporting Lake Pepin's future and honoring its past
[Lake Pepin, 5/3/2019] – The Lake Pepin Legacy Alliance (LPLA) is capping off its Spring Member Drive with an outdoor benefit concert at Liberty Tree Farm in Stockholm, WI on Saturday June 8th. The concert will feature The Pistol Whippin’ Party Penguins, a Minnesota string-band with original songs about the river, performing on an open-barn stage surrounded by hardwood trees.
During the concert, a short ceremony will honor the Citizens for a Clean Mississippi (CCMI) for giving LPLA their remaining funds—more than $9,000—and passing along a legacy of local advocacy to protect Lake Pepin. CCMI was a grassroots organization, led by Dorothy Hill, and famous for the campaign “We Can’t All Live Upstream”, which was used to successfully reduce wastewater pollution and improve water quality in Lake Pepin during the 1970’s.
LPLA’s Spring Member Drive is also organized around Tour de Pepin, which donates proceeds to LPLA every year. Become a member right now and you get regular member benefits, plus a free ticket to the Lake Pepin Benefit Concert, your name on Pepie’s cape during TDP, and an opportunity to have Pepie share a message during the bike ride. LPLA’s member drive goal is 200 sign-ups before June 8th.
Lake Pepin Benefit Concert Tickets ($15) and LPLA memberships ($25+), which include concert admission, are available through the LPLA website. More concert details: Community Crust Pizza will be serving up pizza and Liberty Tree Farm will have beverages available for purchase. Family-friendly; Kids 15 years old or under free; Doors open at 5 pm; Music starts at 6pm. For Tickets, visit: www.lakepepinlegacyalliance.org
